Ramayana Part 1 advance bookings have become the story before the film itself. Three days before its worldwide release on Thursday 5 November 2026, Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part epic had sold tickets worth Rs 45.96 crore across all dates in India, according to tracker Sacnilk figures reported on 2 November, with worldwide advance sales passing Rs 75 crore (The Daily Jagran). The screen version hasn’t opened yet. The queue already has.
Ramayana Part 1 advance bookings, by the numbers
Break that worldwide figure down and the shape is clearer. Domestic advance sales stood at Rs 45.96 crore, while overseas pre-sales reached $3.9 million — about Rs 36.95 crore — including more than $1.5 million from paid previews in the United States alone (The Daily Jagran).
The climb was fast. A week earlier, The Hollywood Reporter India reported the film crossing $2 million in worldwide advance bookings, with about 2.25 lakh tickets sold across India and tracked international markets and the Hindi version accounting for more than 1.75 lakh of the tickets in national chains (Hollywood Reporter India). Cinema Express, citing the same tracker a day later, put opening-day pre-sales in India at around Rs 13 crore gross before paid previews were counted (Cinema Express).
Bookings opened early — on Dussehra, a full 15 days before release — which gave the film an unusually long runway to build these totals (The Daily Jagran). Treat every figure here as a tracker estimate that changes hourly, not a final box-office result. Different reports at different moments give different totals, because the counter is still running.
Ahead of Animal, behind the very biggest
Comparisons are where the pre-sales get interesting. In its Hindi version, Ramayana has moved past the advance sales of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, which made Rs 29.25 crore in pre-sales, and of Yash’s KGF 2, which crossed Rs 25 crore net in opening-day advance sales, according to Sacnilk figures cited in the reporting (The Daily Jagran).
It has not caught everything. The same report puts Ramayana still behind Dhurandhar 2, RRR and Pushpa 2 in pre-sales. So the honest headline is narrower than the hype: this is already one of the biggest advance-booking runs of its stars’ careers, with the final stretch — when most tickets are usually bought — still to come.
Geography tells its own story. For day three of release, Maharashtra led the states, followed by Karnataka and then Delhi, in the figures reported on Monday (The Daily Jagran).
The film behind the Ramayana Part 1 release date
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama. Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash plays Ravana, Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman and Sunny Deol plays Hanuman (Bollywood Hungama). For Kapoor, it is his first theatrical release in three years, since Animal (Cinema Express).
The production is built at epic scale. Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios produces with DNEG, described by the makers as an eight-time Oscar-winning visual effects company, and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations (Bollywood Hungama). The score brings together Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, per Cinema Express’s cast and crew rundown.
Release machinery matches the budget talk. Part 1 opens worldwide on 5 November in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with an IMAX release; Sony Pictures distributes globally outside India and Dharma Productions handles the Hindi-speaking market (Bollywood Hungama). Within India, distribution is split territory by territory — including Yash’s banner handling Karnataka, where he is a major star in his own right (Hollywood Reporter India). Part 2 is set for Diwali 2027.
The date itself is a statement. Opening in the Diwali window, across premium formats, with paid previews the night before in North America — this is a release designed as an event, not a weekend booking.
Analysis: advance bookings measure intent, not satisfaction. They tell you the marketing, the star combination and the epic’s cultural weight have done their work before a single public screening. They can’t tell you whether word of mouth on Friday morning keeps the curve rising or flattens it. For a two-part film, that second question matters twice over: Part 1 has to sell Part 2 as well as itself. By Thursday night, the pre-sale story ends and the real one starts.
