Terms of use

Information for readers, contributors and people supporting our work.

These terms explain how readers can use the website and what to expect when sending a story, application or proposal. They should be read with our privacy notice, editorial standards and current organizational information.

The publication and its current status

Evolving Humanities publishes cultural reporting, explainers, analysis, reviews and personal perspectives. It is an independent initiative with a nonprofit mission, working toward a formal nonprofit structure. The nonprofit information page describes the current role of Remote and Holding, Estonia, and donation arrangements.

Articles are provided for general information and discussion. They do not establish a professional advisory relationship or replace advice suited to a reader’s circumstances. Dates, source limitations and the distinction between reporting and interpretation matter when relying on an article.

Reading, linking and reusing material

You are welcome to link to our articles and share their public URLs. Short quotations should carry clear attribution and a link to the original, with appropriate regard to copyright and any applicable exception. Full republication, commercial reuse and systematic collection require permission unless a stated licence or the law permits them.

Images, quotations and other material credited to third parties remain subject to their owners’ rights. Our publication of an image does not grant readers a licence to reuse it. Contact us about permission for original Evolving Humanities material, and identify the work and intended use.

Sending stories and applications

Send material you have the right to share and identify relevant sources, permissions and conflicts of interest. Applications and proposals should be accurate about your experience and the work involved. Avoid unnecessary sensitive personal information and confidential source material.

Forms may accept an optional PDF up to 5 MB. File checks reduce some risks but do not establish that every submitted document is safe or suitable. We may reject unsupported, suspicious or abusive files. A link or pasted draft is an alternative where appropriate.

Submitting material allows us to receive, retain and review it for the purpose of considering your enquiry or proposal and to contact you about it. It does not by itself transfer copyright, guarantee publication or create a job, assignment, payment obligation or partnership. Publication rights, editing, credit and any fee should be agreed separately.

Volunteer contributions and publication credits

Our current contributor network includes unpaid volunteers. Some publish under their own names and others work in a ghostwriting or background role. We discuss expectations, responsibilities and credit before work begins. Public biographies and photographs require appropriate agreement.

Applying does not oblige you to accept an assignment. Refer to the volunteer role descriptions and discuss realistic time commitments with the team. A future paid arrangement would need an express agreement and should not be inferred from an application.

Donations, partnerships and independence

The donation page explains how support is currently arranged. Payment instructions must be confirmed with the team before money is transferred. We do not currently claim that contributions are tax-deductible, and the website does not provide an online card checkout.

A donation does not purchase coverage or determine an editorial conclusion. A partnership proposal is an invitation to discuss a possible relationship; its scope, responsibilities, financial arrangements and permissions must be agreed separately.

Responsible use and external services

Please do not use the site to send unlawful threats, impersonate another person, submit malicious files, attempt unauthorized access or interfere with the service. Automated activity must respect applicable law, access restrictions and reasonable site operation.

Sources and other links can take you to external websites with their own terms and privacy practices. Linking to a source is not a guarantee about every statement or service on that website. Features and availability may change, and technical interruptions can occur.

Problems, rights concerns and updates

If you believe a page contains an error, follow our corrections process. For a rights, privacy or safety concern, identify the page and explain the issue through Contact or hello@evolvinghumanities.org. Include enough detail for us to review the request without sending unnecessary sensitive documents.

We may update these terms as the publication develops. Changes will be dated, and material service changes may need additional notice. Nothing here is intended to remove rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable law. The current version was updated on 19 October 2026.
