What happens

It’s day two of the charter. Heather hopes the blow-up with Lisa can still be repaired: she wants an admission about the leaks, or at least an apology, and plans to give Lisa space first. Lisa isn’t in a forgiving mood — she tells Meredith that being ordered to admit something isn’t questioning and isn’t friendship, then complains that Meredith didn’t defend her enough, and Meredith bristles. Bronwyn wakes up on a pool lounger, having chosen the open deck over her cabin with Britani, and settling in with a book overhears Britani and Lisa talking about her: Britani is annoyed that Bronwyn told on her at dinner, and Lisa says she shouldn’t be surprised, because Bronwyn turned on her too. The episode then shows a text on screen that Lisa presents as Bronwyn asking her to reach out to Gwen’s grandparents — which sits awkwardly against Bronwyn’s earlier account of that situation.

At breakfast, Heather announces snorkeling and a zombie-themed dinner, and then the bed arrangements start a fight: Mary won’t take Bronwyn as a roommate, and when Britani offers to share, Bronwyn says she won’t sleep in a bed a crew member has been in, claiming the group saw Captain Jason go into Britani’s cabin — Britani says she only asked him in to fix the air conditioning. Lisa tells everyone to stop piling on and says Jason isn’t interested anyway, trying to get Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher to agree, but Daisy refills the water glasses and leaves. Lisa then says the women shouldn’t talk about each other behind their backs, and Bronwyn explodes: she heard Lisa discussing her daughter and Gwen’s grandparents, and family was supposed to be off limits. Angie piles on, claiming Lisa once told her a crude rumor about Todd kissing one of Lisa’s friends; per Wikipedia’s synopsis, Lisa doesn’t deny repeating it, but admits she shouldn’t have said it — the rumor itself isn’t supported by anything on screen, and Todd isn’t there. Bronwyn tells Lisa she’s dead to her; Lisa apologizes, Angie keeps going, and Heather can’t separate them. Remembering Todd’s warning about fighting with Lisa, Bronwyn decides the best revenge is to enjoy herself, and on the beach Angie apologizes for not being more supportive, telling Bronwyn that being that firm with Lisa is the way to make her stop.

While the others snorkel, Lisa tells Mary she feels Meredith hasn’t backed her up. Meredith notices and comes over, insisting she did defend Lisa; Mary isn’t convinced — in a confessional she says Meredith hasn’t stood up for Lisa lately, then marvels at herself (“Can you believe I’m actually taking up for Lisa Barlow?”). Mary relays Lisa’s feelings, Meredith snaps at her, and Mary snaps back, telling Meredith she isn’t a good friend, calling her boring, and telling her to go jump in the ocean. Back aboard, Angie nearly breaks a finger, and Bronwyn notes the blood suits the dinner theme. Heather explains the zombie idea: a group that loves digging up dirt and resurrecting old fights, and the women come to the table in prosthetic wounds with props through their heads. Bronwyn says she’s called Todd and reminds Lisa that family is off limits; Lisa offers what looks like a sincere apology, and Mary applauds. Then Britani runs off to be sick, comes back and takes a shot; Meredith calls the behavior odd, and Britani answers that she’s seen something odd too: posts online claiming Seth has a mistress. Meredith denies it and tells Britani that her own unhappiness with Jared doesn’t give her license to come after Meredith’s marriage, and in a confessional tells Britani to leave her and her husband alone. Seth isn’t present, and nothing on screen supports the claim.

How it originated

Most of these threads were already loose before the boat left the dock. Last week ended with Heather accusing Lisa of being the source of the group’s leaks, Lisa denying it and storming off, and Meredith declining to take Heather’s side for lack of proof — the root of Lisa’s complaint this morning. The same night, Bronwyn exposed Britani’s gossip about Meredith’s seizures, and Meredith and Britani traded water across the table. Bronwyn’s line about families comes from the premiere-lounge truce, where she and Lisa agreed that husbands and children were off limits, after Bronwyn said she was still hurt by Lisa’s Season 5 reunion comments about Gwen’s estranged relatives. Todd’s warning that any fight with Lisa would be on Bronwyn dates from Episode 6 — the same scene in which she said she suspected Lisa was behind her own headlines.

The human interaction (Analysis)

The truce Bronwyn and Lisa made was built on one rule, and this episode shows how fragile a one-rule truce is: each side can argue the other broke it first. Lisa has a text she says shows Bronwyn inviting her into Gwen’s family situation; Bronwyn has overheard Lisa talking about it; Angie’s rumor gives Bronwyn a clear violation to point to. Lisa’s apology at dinner is real as far as the cameras show — it also comes after she’s lost the argument.

Mary’s turn is the episode’s quiet surprise: she’s spent the season on the opposite side from Lisa, and she still defends her here, to Meredith of all people. It isn’t loyalty to Lisa; it’s a standard — Mary seems to think friends owe each other a public defense, and Meredith’s caution in Episode 7 looks to her like a failure of that duty. Meredith is now caught both ways: Heather thinks she sided with Lisa, and Lisa thinks she didn’t — that’s what happens when you insist on evidence in a group that runs on allegiance. And Britani keeps reaching for whatever will hurt most in the moment, and this time it’s a marriage: bringing up online claims about Seth right after Meredith questions her behavior looks more like retaliation than concern.
