What happens
After the sermon, Mary takes the group to lunch at Valter’s, the restaurant where she hosted her famous Season 1 lunch. Each guest gets a betta fish; Whitney jokes that they’re fighting fish, like her friends. Mary thanks everyone for supporting her big day and explains why Britani isn’t there: she disinvited her over the least-Christ-like remark. Then she reveals that Britani has since apologized, and uses that as a challenge to the table — if Britani can apologize, so can the rest of them.
Heather takes it straight to the flight. She tells Lisa and Meredith she was offended by how they treated Britani; in a confessional, Lisa says the others have blown it into something it wasn’t. Mary sees it differently: in her confessional, she says that when everyone who was there tells the same story and it contradicts Meredith’s account, that settles it. Angie and Heather try for a gotcha — they say Meredith was yelling the whole flight, and Meredith says she was watching Crazy Rich Asians. Angie asks how it ends, and Meredith can’t say. Meredith adds that she does feel bad for Britani, but no one seems to care that Britani went after her marriage. Heather is unmoved: “You lost the right to cry when you guys harassed her on the plane.” Meredith takes it hard — in a confessional, she says she’s shocked Heather won’t give her the benefit of the doubt. Mary tries to soften things, telling Meredith she isn’t attacking her and that she knows Meredith was hurt; Meredith says she didn’t have much support at the time, and Heather rolls her eyes. When Heather and Angie keep picking at the details, Lisa cuts in and tells them to stop playing detective and just admit they didn’t like Meredith’s behavior. Meredith still denies doing anything wrong.
Then she turns on Whitney for talking about her behind her back — and Bronwyn admits she was the source: she told Meredith that Whitney believed Meredith didn’t remember the flight because she’d been drinking. Meredith says she doesn’t have a substance problem. Whitney suggests Meredith may have anger issues or trouble mixing substances. Meredith says she doesn’t believe what Whitney claims to have seen, and calls her a known liar. These are competing on-camera claims, and the episode offers nothing beyond them. Bronwyn realizes she’s burned Whitney, but the focus stays on Meredith, who finally asks what more they want from her, and says she doesn’t yet know what she’ll do about Britani.
At a nail salon, Meredith tells Lisa that Heather leading the charge was strange, but Whitney is what really bothers her — she doesn’t think Whitney has standing to judge her mental health or drinking. Lisa mentions she’s seen Britani and given her a qualified apology. Meredith says she’ll be the bigger person and move on, then belittles Britani’s love life and career in the same breath. Whitney helps Heather clear out a mattress, dressed for a gala rather than a dump run, and tells Heather she was worried Meredith blacked out on the plane, and that she’d planned to raise it with Meredith herself, as a friend; then she turns on Bronwyn for repeating it, describing her in very unflattering terms. Bronwyn’s own news comes at a bonsai shop with her mother and Gwen: both are moving out — Gwen is heading to Portland, and her mother wants her own place. Bronwyn feels she’s finally in a good spot with her mother and jokes that she’d get rid of Todd if it would make her stay; her mother replies that Todd might get rid of her first. Britani and her daughter Olivia attend a therapy session together: Olivia talks about growing up feeling ignored, and Britani is grateful just to be given another chance. The episode ends with Meredith and Britani face to face. Meredith apologizes for talking about Britani behind her back on the plane and says she hopes they can move forward with kindness and respect; Britani accepts quickly and admits she was out of line to bring up the TikTok about Seth. They agree to take small steps.
How it originated
The lunch is the group’s first chance to litigate the flight home from Canouan. No footage of it exists: Britani described hair pulling and seat-shaking, while Meredith and Lisa described venting. In that same episode, Whitney filled Bronwyn in, describing Meredith as furious — the conversation Bronwyn repeats here. Mary’s disinvitation of Britani dates to last week, when she skipped Britani’s tribute party over the Christ-like remark; that episode also had Heather accusing Lisa of rewriting history. Bravo’s episode synopsis promised life-altering news for Bronwyn. On screen, the news is the household changing around her: Gwen and her mother are leaving the house where, in Episode 4, her mother criticized her parenting.
The human interaction (Analysis)
The lunch is another trial, and once again the evidence never arrives. Angie’s movie quiz is the closest anyone gets to cross-examination, and it proves nothing beyond Meredith not remembering a romcom ending. With no footage, the group falls back on numbers — Mary says as much: if everyone’s story matches, the dissenter must be wrong. That’s a reasonable instinct; it’s also how a group talks itself into a verdict.
Bronwyn’s disclosure is the most consequential move at the table. By naming Whitney as her source, she turned Meredith’s anger away from the flight and toward Whitney’s drinking comment — and put herself in Whitney’s bad books on the way. She’s done this before, repeating someone else’s words to redirect a fight; here, it cost her a friend. Lisa’s role has quietly flipped: for most of the season she was the defendant, and now she’s Meredith’s counsel, telling the prosecution to drop the details and just say how they feel — a smart defense, because it treats the whole case as a matter of personal dislike. The Britani–Meredith apology matters precisely because it happens away from the group: without an audience, neither woman needs to win.
