Start with the disagreement, because there is one. The Udta Teer box office collection Day 1 figure depends on which tracker you trust. Pinkvilla puts the opening at around Rs 3.75 crore nett, Pinkvilla reported. Reports based on Sacnilk data put it higher, at Rs 4.10 crore net, the Times of Bengal reported and MensXP reported. Those are two estimates, not one number with a typo. This piece keeps them separate.

The film released on Friday 23 October 2026, the Times of Bengal reported. Whichever estimate you pick, the verdict from trade coverage is the same word: low.

Udta Teer box office collection Day 1, estimate by estimate

Pinkvilla’s figure first. The outlet estimated Rs 3.75 crore nett for Day 1, within a Rs 3.50–4.00 crore range, and noted the day started like a Rs 3 crore opening before evening shows pushed it higher, Pinkvilla reported. Pinkvilla carries its own warning label, and it’s worth repeating: its figures are trade estimates compiled from commercial parameters and market sentiment, not certified collections, Pinkvilla states in its disclaimer.

Now the Sacnilk-based count. Udta Teer collected Rs 4.10 crore net in India on Day 1, with an India gross of Rs 4.83 crore across 6,265 shows, the Times of Bengal reported. Overall occupancy was 15.65% — 5.08% for morning shows, 14.46% afternoon, 13.77% evening and 25% at night, according to Sacnilk figures cited there, the Times of Bengal reported. Read that occupancy curve again. Mornings were empty. Nights filled up. That’s a word-of-mouth shape, not a fan-rush shape.

An earlier snapshot explains part of the gap between trackers. Filmibeat’s live update, timed at 7:45 p.m. on Day 1, had the film at about Rs 2.58 crore net across 4,902 shows at that point in the evening, Filmibeat reported. That’s a partial day, not a rival final total. Anyone quoting it as the Day 1 result is quoting a clock, not a collection.

The comparison with the stars’ last film together splits the same way. Pinkvilla says Udta Teer opened better than Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, the pair’s previous film, Pinkvilla reported. Filmibeat, using Sacnilk figures that put Pati Patni Aur Woh Do at Rs 4 crore net on its opening day, said Udta Teer was yet to surpass it at the time of its early update, Filmibeat reported. Both claims sit in their sources. They don’t reconcile, and pretending they do would be tidier than the data deserves.

The film behind the Udta Teer opening day box office

The Ayushmann Khurrana Sara Ali Khan spy comedy marks the directorial debut of Akash Kaushik, previously a writer on films including Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, MensXP reported. The premise: a Pakistani spy is sent to India, loses his memory, and comes to believe he is a patriotic Indian agent, MensXP summarised. The supporting cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover and the late Mukul Dev, MensXP reported.

It did not arrive on schedule. The release was delayed by two weeks because of Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion, MensXP reported. It then landed in the pre-Diwali period, which MensXP notes is generally dull for film business, MensXP reported. Pinkvilla offers a colder diagnosis: the first trailer landed well, the second felt too spoofy, but the real problem was that the film carried no initial value into release, Pinkvilla reported.

Reception reports diverge, too. MensXP and Filmibeat describe positive reviews and a good audience response, MensXP reported and Filmibeat reported. The Times of Bengal describes reactions as mixed — praise for Khurrana’s comic timing and the premise, complaints that the humour lands unevenly, the Times of Bengal reported. Pinkvilla likewise calls the reception mixed, Pinkvilla reported.

What Saturday has to do

Pinkvilla sets the bar in plain figures. This is a Saturday film, the outlet argues: if Day 2 jumps to over Rs 6 crore, with a good hold on Day 3, the film has a chance of sustaining its run until Ramayana releases, Pinkvilla reported. MensXP gives that deadline a date: Ramayana Part One arrives on 5 November 2026, leaving Udta Teer roughly two weeks of clear run, MensXP reported.

So the Udta Teer Day 2 collection needed is not a gentle rise. It’s a leap of more than half again on the Pinkvilla base. The night-show occupancy says an audience exists after dark. Saturday decides whether that audience was a curiosity crowd or the start of a run.
